Well hope everyone is having a good summer and keeping cool.
I am still getting lumbar injections and trying to put off seeing a surgeon as long as possible.
Meanwhile here is another Leisure Arts Baby Afghan I have finished ( order here)  http://www.amazon.com/Keepsake-Baby-Afghans-Leisure-Arts/dp/1574869000    ( Peach Caron yarn)    http://www.caron.com/color_cards/cc_simplysoft.html

Plus and oldie I pulled out of storage .It is somewhere around 30 years old .I don't even know if I could find the pattern.I think it was a rose pattern a friend , Asterie , played around with and came up with the bigger flower.Mine I did as a brown chrysanthemum . We have  a much better choice of greens these days. I do know it is Red heart yarn.
Life is moving along fast and you feel you need to hold on to people especially grandchildren. My oldest grandson will soon be 20 .His father has taught him to play guitar & drums and he plays in their church band and sings like a nightingale. His brother will be 18 and a senior this year. They mow my yard and take care of it for me. Such good boys
My oldest granddaughter  ( soon to be 16 ) is a sophomore this year & is now 5' 9"and towers over me. The twins Eli & Hannah will be 12 this fall & are as tall as I.They all love tubbing behind their daddy's boat.No setting in front of a TV for any of them.
 I do have a new neighbor ;

A little brown house wren House Wren Photo Felt secure to build her nest in my dining room window. I feel so honored she trust me to raise her babies in my window! She has raised one family . of which, I missed seeing them leave the nest,. Now she's setting on another nest of eggs.Maybe I'll be lucky enought to see them when they leave the nest. For sure they are home bodys.....
                                               Brown House Wren
A plain brown bird with an effervescent voice, the House Wren is a common backyard bird over nearly the entire Western Hemisphere. Listen for its rush-and-jumble song in summer and you’ll find this species zipping through shrubs and low tree branches, snatching at insects. House Wrens will gladly use nestboxes, or you may find their twig-filled nests in old cans, boots, or boxes lying around in your garage.

An Old Thing Of Value !!

An Old thing of Value , Only to me.

Who knows how old this canner is.. I could guess maybe 35 - 45 years old.
It has canned lots of different kinds of vegetables and served me well over the years.
It has preserved hundreds of jars of food to feed my family of 6 for years, in fact I'd say 49 years now .
We used to raise our own beef (unless the kids made pets out of them and then we'd have to sell them and buy one off our brother in law )
I have canned beef stew,Beef ribs,and everything of beef I could .O my,in the cold winter when it would snow I could go down to my can shelves and bring up something good,just pop off the lid and it was ready to serve along with;
mashed tators
and a can of green beans,
with chow chow ,kraut or pickles ,
which I also had made.
We used to raise our own hams , yep, a 4 footed hog so we knew what was in our meat....I canned the sausage and ribs .Sausage
I remember opening cans of those ribs ,

Barbecue Pork Ribs

Put 2 quarts Canned Ribs in a baking dish,
cover with barbecue sauce & 1/4 cup of chopped onions
bake in 350* oven for 30 minutes. Yum yum.

At Christmas for years, my dear husband would put the 20-25 pound ham in it and take it down the stairs to our basement . He would build a fire in our Franklin Stove and keep it going all day and into the night until the Ham tested done.
Now most folks baked theirs but we liked it moist and boy it was so good...
Put some mustard on a slice of bread and pepper on the ham .... that was eating high on the hog .
But I don't do them any more since he's gone.

So you see ; This really has been and still is .. "A thing of value " to me.

Friends

I may not be here for a while,

My best friend and companion of 47 years went home to be with the Lord July 28,2007 at 10;14 am. I was holding him in my arms when he left.I had been holding his coffee cup letting him sip coffee as he was tired and weak not sleeping much for the past couple of nights.

He did not die of cancer. All the x-rays could not even find the tumors so doctors told us the cancer was gone.

God is good.

He also had COPD which is chronic obstructive pulmonary Disease . Thats put such a strain on his heart as his lungs struggled to get oxygen in to his lungs that he had a heart attack.

He had a heart attack in 1982 and surgery in 1983.And no more heart problems since.

When it comes your appointed time you are going out of this world and something in this body has to quit working.

But Paul said to the believers ," absent from the body is present with the Lord".

So I know where he is and I am going to be with again when my appointed time comes to leave this world.

The Comforter has truly been with me and my 4 children . Their spouses have been a tower of strength for me through it all. They still are here helping me make good decisions and going with me to get everything that you have to done. What a reward to see Christ in the actions of my children and the peace that passes all understanding that God has given to each of us during this valley time in our lives.

Isa,53.4 has truly been fulfilled in our lives .surly he hath bore our griefs and carried all our sorrows.

The food that came into my home at this time was so much we had to send some to the abused Women & Children Shelter Home .I have never seen such an abundance of food anywhere in my whole life!

Where I had been at hospital with Bill my pastor and his mother vacuumed and cleaned my home for me the day he died. What humble Servants of God

God went before me and provided all that I needed and still is doing that.

He is such a big God I can not comprehend him.It amazes me that he loves this Ole sinner and saved me by grace( a gift of God )

The day of receiving friends there was a rainbow over our church where we were and it had NOT rained that day. At least not in our community. God's sign that he keeps his promises if we trust in him.

I can truly say ; God keeps his promises and I stand amazed!

I can't wait to see him for there is No earthly words to thank him or to describe him with here.

Come soon Lord Jesus.

Praise the lord! Thank You Father!!! 2 other tumors also was shrunk very tiny .

They will continue to check him each month and do ct scan every few months.Keeping a good watch on him.

Now he is concerned with his hemoglobin count falling so fast in 9 days ( from11 to 8 ) so took 5 vials of blood to do test on him. This too shall pass.

He has had 5 units of blood in a little over a month.

Things sure are looking up for him.

Spring is coming and the crocus , daffodils and lilies are soon to be blooming with the tulips. The beauty of the first flowers of the new year in their newness of life.

Mike's Knee high Socks

Vacation!!!!!!
magnify

Well I have been knitting along at times & here's the proof. They are too big to get all of them on my scanner since I don't have a camera.

The Trekking socks for my son are almost finished! About 6 more inches on the cuff to go. He wears knee socks as his calves are so muscular that 7 inch cuffs won't stay up on him.So I have to make 14 inch cuffs .

The pattern takes me a bit longer to do as its *k2,p2 for 8 rows *, k2 rows then *p2 ,k2,* for 8 rows and k 2rows.Repeat pattern for as long as you want cuff.

I am getting away for a few days this week. So not be checking in here till maybe Saturday night.

Looking forward to getting some reading in and just relaxing in general .Something I haven't done for about 8 months .

My son has a cabin in the hills of Tenn. and he is coming to take us up there from Wed. - Sat.

Everyone have a nice week.
