Help for troubled times

"help for troubled times": "November 06, 2008

This is an old post from my yahoo blog and I felt I needed to share it today.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

( in a time when great judgments were falling on the nation all around him Isaiah testified he had a double portion of peace, because he kept his mind on God , not his ability to supply for his family , but he kept his mind on God’s promises )

Matthew 6:8
For your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

( God may not supply your present lifestyle, but he promised to supply you a roof over your head, food to eat, and to clothe you.) your needs.

Luke 12: 29, 30, 31
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things .
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God: and all these things shall be added unto you.

( as the storms rage here in our land keep in touch with God by reading the Word & praying each day, do not let fear become your daily bread when you lay down to sleep or when you rise in the new day, trust God to show you how to survive)
he might just surprise you

Beach Socks June 04, 2008

June 04, 2008

I finally turned the heels on the socks so now on to the finishing line , the cuffs.

Finished the baby sweater also , just need to sew on buttons.

I want to cast a new pair of socks on the needles to work on at the beach next week but not sure who I want to do them for.maybe 'me'. Lol

I am so looking forward to being at the beach, Every time I go I am amazed at the greatness of my God.

The vastness of the ocean and how the tides works and what it helps accomplish show me what a great God my God is.

And to think that he,the King of Glory, took off his royal robe and left his peaceful throne in Heaven to come to this earth .He who created us to live in peace. Yet we are men & women who hurt others for self gain .

Aw what love and caring!

Thank you Jesus for saving me from my sinful self. Thank you for the promise that I can one day live where there is no hurt or tears. Where No one is mean to anyone else .Where there is No sickness to suffer and take our life away.Where I will be with my daughter and husband again eternelly...

Be forgiven and kind to someone this week , as Jesus forgave us let us also forgive others.

Cascade Socks

cascadesocks": "crazy Toes and Heels sock Finished

Finally finished my Cascade Fixation Crazy Toes and Heels socks.I am Pleased!!!

I Love knitting socks Mary Ann Beatties way.

I used to get so tired of my socks before I got the cuffs finished with all the ribbing but now its a breeze .Doesn't seem to take as long when I started at the toes and moved Up the foot.

I don't think I will ever do socks on DP's again and one at a time either. It didn't take me near as long to do both socks on circular needles as it did to do one on DP's.

On to other things. I bought 5 gallons of strawberries this week and made 21 pints of jelly and froze 12 pints. I seemed to have gotten some asthma this week , which I have never had, along with the hives on my arms as well.

Needless to say, I don't feel well at all.But tomorrow I am going to our church breakfast and Lunch and rest ...

Everyone have a Happy Mothers day .

Gone home 7,28,2007

"Gone Home"
August 2007

Friends ;

Thank all of you who have held us up in your prayers.

I may not be here for a while yet , got so many things to do that my days are a blur.

My best friend and companion of 47 years went home to be with the Lord July 28 at 10;14 am.
I was holding him in my arms when he left.
I had been holding his coffee cup letting him sips of coffee as he was tired and weak not sleeping much for the past couple of nights.

He did not die of cancer. All the x-rays could not even find the tumors so doctors told us the cancer was gone.

God is good.

He also had COPD which is chronic obstructive pulmonary Disease . That's put such a strain on his heart as his lungs struggled to get oxygen in to his lungs that he had a heart attack.

He had a heart attack in 1982 and surgery in 1983.

When it comes your appointed time you are going out of this world and something in this body has to quit working.

But Paul said to the believers ,"' absent from the body is present with the Lord".

So I know where he is and I am going to be with him again when my appointed time comes to leave this world.

The Comforter has truly been with me and my 4 children .Their spouses have been a tower of strength for me through it all. They still are here helping me make good decisions and going with me to get everything that you have to done.
What a reward to see Christ in the actions of my children and the peace that passes all understanding that God has given to each of us during this valley time in our lives.

Isa,53.4 has truly been fulfilled in our lives ".surly he hath bore our griefs and carried all our sorrows."therefore we do not feel hopeless.

The food that came into my home at this time was so much we had to send some to the abused women & children's Shelter Home .

Where I had been at hospital with Bill my pastor and his mother vacuumed and cleaned my home for me the day he died.

God went before me and provided all that I needed and still is doing that. I am walking in a dream.

He is such a big God I can not comprehend him.
It amazes me that he loves this Ole sinner saved by grace( a gift of God ) I see his love in all that have come through my door, in the abundant food , the friends who stood in my kitchen, seeing that all of it was taken care of & Put into coolers when the refrigerator would hold no more for 3 days.

The day of receiving friends there was a rainbow over our church where we were and it had NOT rained that day. God's sign that he keeps his promises if we trust in him.

I can truly say ; God keeps his promises and I stand amazed!
I know there is a long road ahead of me, a lot of adjustments to make, but that rainbow reminds me , he will be there and show me the way.

I can't wait to see him for there is No earthly words to thank him or to describe him with here.
I seen God in the people who stood in line for 3 1/2 - 4 hours to show me they cared.

Come soon Lord Jesus.

47 Anniversary

"Feb,5,1960

47 years ago Monday February 5, 2007 Bill & I were married .

He is battling cancer right now but doing well. The chemo is playing mean games with his red blood count right now. Past week he had to have 2 shots for the blood & 2 units of blood. He is breathing some better now there is something in there to help him get oxygen. His hair has not all come out but it has turned totally white. Not much for me to cut any more. He will be 73 the 18 of this month. He has been the best husband any one could have. Great provider. Loved our children, always helped with them as babies ,supported them in what they wanted to do in school & now in life . taught them to always be truthful, honest, & hard steady workers.

We had 3 girls and 2 boys. One daughter was killed by a drunk driver in 1968 at 4 years old.

We will see her again & we know she is OK .

We have had many good times too. Our 2 sons & 2 daughters bring us many happy memories .They are delightful children, even thought they are grown up .Our oldest son has 2 sons, Our oldest living daughter has 1 set of twins boy, girl,in the picture to the left, and a eleven year old daughter. They make us proud. They take them to church , help them with their homework & spend time with them. Our oldest granddaughter 's basket ball team won their game Saturday , 5 to 16. She made 12 points of the score. She came to grandpa to have her picture taken with him.

We have many good friends and still are in love as much if not more than when we got married.

God is good to us & we give him thanks daily.

Don't believe he will be able to take me out to eat this anniversary, but I had rather have him and cook that meal than to be alone. After all what is one meal in 47 years!

He bought me a new purse I wanted in Shoney's Saturday and I told him that the best gift I could have was I just wanted him to feel good again.

Hey I didn't mean to write a a book here but will let it go as is.

later,

Elsie

December 25, 2006

December 25, 2006

See my son and 3 grandchildren on our roof getting kite off.

Today was a great day here at the Ogles home. We had 17 people all toll.

The grandchildren were quiet and so we adults talked and eat 6 hours away. The older couple (about my & Bill's age) said it was the best Christmas they had for a long time and that it was the way Christmas should be., families being together. They loved our children and grandchildren and called us after they got back to their home , telling us how much they enjoyed it

.I did fine till my back & knees started hurting really bad so I set down & let the others take care of things. We had lots of food left over and sent plates to the sick ones in our neighborhood.

I made it better than I thought I would. Tomorrow will be the last of holiday company when my husbands great nephew and his wife who is from India come to meet us.He wants to show her the mountains of Virginia and his family.Maybe the rain will let up & I'll feel better.

Rest is due Wednesday by way of doing laundry.Smile.

Dear hubby 2006

Dear hubby

Today was a beautiful day here .Sunshine and warm temperatures.

Last evening my son & his wife came by and helped me cut all the dead flowers around the house and trim all the flowering shrubbery and haul it off. My My ! My yard looks so neat and clean again. Image

My Husband had his second chemo Wednesday and all is still going ok.He has shown no side effects at all.He is eating good & doesn't fuss when I remind him to drink his water and eat his protein and vegetables.

My problem is that I am over eating by cooking him all this good stuff and I have to quit it...

Pastor came by tonight to visit him and had lots of phone calls too. Keeps his spirits up .He says we will go to church Sunday.

Our granddaughter called and said she has gotten a cold and its upsetting her because she loves her grandpa and always sets with him in church while I am in choir. With Chemo she can't get close to him let alone eat lunch with him until shes better.Poor baby........

Its my bed time.So more later

It may be a while before I get here again .

My Dear Hubby has a cancer on his right lung and the second biopsy should be back monday. He is seeing his Doctor Monday October 9th so we will find out what the next step to do is.

We believe they will be able to take it out & that it has not spread yet.

He says he can't fuss at God as he has had 72 good years and it could have been all over him.

Just keep him in your prayers please and will up date when I can.

The heart failure I had on October 3rd did not do any damage to my heart and I am gaining my strength now. My kids are being so helpful and I am so thankful for all 4 of them.Bill & I are blessed with good children and 5 good grandchildren as well.

We are at peace with this news and know God is with us through our troubled waters as he always has been.

My Autumn Days are Here

"Guess My Autumn Days are Here

Wow , Guess I'm all finished canning this season . Things can happen so fast.

Changed my Bp meds & it slowed my heart rate to 49 .Doctor said threw me into Congestive heart failure..I felt like I had gained 10 pounds and it was all in my chest. Couldn't breathe good if I tried to walk around ... She put me on 40 g water pills a day for next 2 days and I am already feeling much better. Still fell like something is heavy in my chest though..Hope I feel better tomorrow .Have to have a Echo gram done Monday .Old age ain't for sissies!!!!!!!!!

Dear husband has an Pet scan at 9 am Monday & I'm in at 8 am for my Echo gram.So hope I'll be out by time he goes in.then Tuesday he has Biopsy on his lungs. We will be OK I know we will.

God has been good to us for almost 47 years .Kids are so good to us also. Baby Daughter come in & cooked supper last night said she'd be back tonight.Son in law came by while ago & mowed lawn .What more can I want.. I won't go to my water Aquatics tonight though. They can dance a water jig without me.

Need to clip shrubbery in yard and flowers also but that can wait..

Need to sell this place & get a smaller one anyway.Takes about 1 1/2 hour to mow this lawn . Hate to change , so used to this place after 42 years here.Know just where I want to plant flowers each spring and all the old familiar sounds ... My bird feeders out side the kitchen window and off our patio , singing so sweetly when they come in to feed .And O , the hummingbirds fighting over the feeders ... Sigh........does all good things have to change ?? Where has time gone? I 'm no where ready for all this & neither is my hubby...

The sun has come out so I am going out to enjoy it before the Autumn weather gets so chilly I don't want to go out .

Autumn is Here

"Autumn is Here!

I can't believe that its Fall time already.. My My where does time go these years? They are having Fall festivals all around in towns this week end to kick off the season. My Hubby & I have been invited to a cook out tonight at a 500 acres farm about an hours drive from us.

I made a homemade all the way chocolate pie and butterscotch pie to take .( guess I should have made pumpkin) to keep in with the season.

The season of Autumn reminds me of the autumn of life when the frost bites us and something goes wrong with our health and we start to fail in physical strength. We know winter is coming and soon we will leave this old world. But knowing that springtime comes next ( the resurrection ) makes it ok.

My flowers were so beautiful this summer and life has been good in spite of my dear hubby's health not holding up well and mine also.I dread the cold weather & I could live in Florida if it wasn't humid .

So will have to think about how to cut the 4 o'clock s off the top of a yellow jackets nest that has built beside my front porch steps so I can spray them out one night.I usually wait till it frost a bit before I clean up the 4 o'clock 's but due to the bees nest I better get it done .Wish me luck.

O my I am so happy! Today I taught my 6 year old granddaughter how to cast on stitches to knit!

She has set since last winter with a set of my straight knitting needles and an old skein of yarn and worked the needles in the yarn something else. Image Well today her Mom stopped by to check a yellow jacket bee sting I had gotten while I was cutting dead flower stems off in front of my house. My DGD got her yarn & needles and went to work. I sat down beside her and started to show her how to cast on, never thinking she's really catching on. But did she ever. I said to her, “today you have blessed your grandma, Hannah,' She simply smiled at me and kept casting on.

I just had to share with you all. Will post a picture when I can get one.

Got to get ready for my brother and a sister to arrive here Friday .looking forward to having them.

Need to be resting but as usual , sleep seems to be a stranger to me since my dear husband died.

Come Lord Jesus , I am ready to come home.If my children would be satisfied I would like to go now.

But they ask me , pray please lord don't take Mom for a while. So I guess I just pray ' your will be done'.

I am working in my yard some and have frozen some strawberries.

Christmas Sorrows 2008

Post moved from Yahoo 360 blog
"Christmas Season

So sorry to hear the News Reports about how people are being hurt and one man killed because shoppers were so caught up in what they were wanting to buy at a cut price on a time limit.
Stores could sale items at the same price all the time .
I blame the store for this .
People have to try to stretch their money to cover as much as they can for one thing. So they have to push to get what they can for their families when they can get it.
Stores are trying to stay in business ..Stores like WalMart have closed so many other stores in our towns and now are raising their prices & it is not what Sam Walton set out for it to be.
BUT this is not what Christmas is really about. We are taught wrong values.

Christmas has become a time of simply put ' giving gifts' or you are cheap.
You see it's really about the birth of a Savior ......... a story of giving love, something that can't be bought!!

But people no longer remember this. The wanting of 'things 'has replaced the good thing & the need to feel you can give or you will be embarrassed.

So we have people shoving & yelling at each other and even here , 2 women ( I do not say ladies ) fighting over a parking place.

So sad things like the above happen. A sign of the times. A time of fear , lost jobs , wrong priorities and greed.

I am glad that in our family we give to the small children a few choice gifts and then we spend time remembering Jesus the greatest gift ever given to man, and fellowshipping with each other.

Its not about who can give the best gift. or who can't give one.

No one is set up to feel bad if they are trying to manage on a lesser income to have the necessity.

I hope some families will just enjoy having each other and getting together for a meal.Maybe some carol singing and reminiscing.

I am glad I can say : I am a pilgrim and a stranger to this world , looking for a better home with a king that is so love that all is prefect. What a day that will be.

I can hardly wait!!!!

Green Relish

Here is a somewhat picture of a jar of the green relish I made 12 pints of today.
The weather is cloudy past couple days and it has made me hurt so bad I had to sit on kitchen stool to chop onions, red & green peppers & green tomatoes , plus cabbage for this relish.
My dear hubby did laundry while I made this today. He doesn't feel good either . He is waiting for a pet scan on his lungs .I pray it is good news .He's my best friend of 47 years.
The sun is suppose to shine Sunday so maybe I will feel better .then cool again Monday . Dear ole fall is here for sure.
Have a great Sabbath Day everyone & get some rest.

Did a run of laundry, knitted a bit , cooked lunch and that is about all.
Waiting for the report form my hubby's doc. on his last CT Scan on his lungs. Saying a prayer that its OK . Made 5 chocolate pies Monday and gave 4 away .
Went to my apple tree to gather a basket of apples and there was Mrs. Doe eating away .I told her it was my turn & she ran away, I watch her each morning eating my apples for her breakfast. I will miss her when they are all gone.
Think I'll get up & make a needle holder for my sock needles so I can keep them all together.

Quiet Sunday

Today is different that we are at home and not church. My DH has just come home from hospital from a 3 day stay with bacterial pneumonia.
Glad he is on the mend but my fibromyalgia has kicked in and every muscle is groaning and complaining .
DD from N C called she was coming up with lunch so for me to rest.
Blessings , blessings..
I am trying to catch up on my emails from Crochet Partners & Busyknitting .
Its a cloudy day here in Va. and I wish for the sun to shine because I always feel cheered up when it does..
Guess I will set in my rocker , take ibuprofin and Knit . Sounds like a good day since DH is sleeping .
Have a relaxed Sunday everyone.

I remember being in the plays at church when I was a child at home .I always enjoyed them even though I was bashful. These are great peaceful memories to me now.
My mother would take crepe paper( do they still make that stuff ) and make us angel costumes with big wide arms which looked like wings when we raised our arms , pantomiming the story of'" O little Town of Bethlehem."
This year I was again in the Christmas play as was my youngest granddaughter.
How I enjoyed it and was so proud as I watched my granddaughter as she shared the alphabet of Christmas with other boys & girls.
The most wonderful thing though was to be a part of a play
that 26 people gave their lives & heart to Jesus
after the play ended.
Awesome!
I thought peoples heart was so harden that they didn't feel amazed by a king who took off his royal robes, stepped down from his throne , and came to earth to suffer willingly at man's mocking hands to be a Savior for mankind, to whom soever would believe in him.
I am so glad I could be apart again of this wonderful story full of love for someone beside yourself.
May you come to know Jesus & have a personal relationship with him if you don't.
Blessings to all.

Entry for January 05, 2009
Sure has been busy here .Christmas has come and gone as has the New Year.
I can't believe it is the 5 of January 2009.
I have been about 98 miles away ,staying with my dear sweet sister who had her first chemo treatment last Wednesday. We prayed over the chemo, that it would kill the bad and not harm the good. She has had NO side effects at all.We praise God for this.
My brother and his sweet wife came down for a flying visit & she enjoyed them so much. Was like a great present to have them there.
Well, now to all the left behind jobs like, taking down the Christmas tree, door wreaths, clean out the fridge, etc. O how my house needs a good vacuuming and dusting. laundry to do as well. So busy days are good days.
Happy & Blessed New Year everyone.

Knitpick Socks

January 13,2009

Finally.......
I finished my Knitpicks Socks!!!! http://www.knitpicks.com/Essential%20Tweed%20Sock%20Yarn_YD5420150.html
They feel great on my feet & are a perfect fit. Can't beat Queen kahuna's ( crazy Toes and Heels )measureing.http://www.queenkahuna-creations.com/
Started them back last summer but no interest like I used to have to knit .Its a new year so I will try to get a new pair of socks on the needles and need to start a blanket for my best friends granddaughter who is having her first baby in August. That will be in Crochet.
Our winter is really gonna be cold this week. Suppose to get down to 4* Thursday Night and high Friday be 17*. Now what this does to my old bones is ugly.... Hurts like the dickens, What ever that feels like,it hurts, hurts, hurts.
Guess its time for me to start cooking again. something I have not done much of since i lost my Dear Hubby.
Maybe some chicken & dumplings,I need to try a new chicken soup recipe, anyone have a favorite?
I can't seem to taste tomato based soups anymore so I won't be making any vegetable soup.
I need to organize my closets and clean out kitchen cabinets. So much I could do to get my house in a nice organized state but no one lives here so why bother? Now this isn't me... I always had to have ever thing in a certain order and arrangement but now I don't seem to have anything to give me the desire to get me up and going. OK enough about that.
Time to go eat some breakfast so later all.
